Thanks to those who volunteered this weekend to fight for your fishing grounds in the N. PV area. We were able to get
a little press over in Redondo. My estimates say that we connected with around 600+ anglers over the weekend (and an awful lot more if you count the flyers left on the cars and at businesses), many of whom knew absolutely nothing about what's going on. A lot of guys were pretty upset, some were indifferent, and a surprising few were actually hostile--they just didn't wanna be bothered, I guess.
I know for a fact that giving up a day or two of personal time was a sacrifice, but we did a lot to support our stakeholders this weekend. I think that's something you can keep your head up high about the next time you're fishing these proposed closure areas.
For those of you who haven't gotten involved yet, maybe you feel like you don't know enough about the MLPA or that your efforts won't make a difference. I'd encourage you to
attend your local workshop in the coming days to get a feel for things. It's a whole different experience to actually see the process in person and to see how passionate the various sides are.
Thanks to Grego over at baytubers, zenspearo (Joe) on spearboard, and Joe Faldo from
Keep Rocky Point Open for making sure this was a cross-fishing effort. Myself and others still have some fight left in us so let us know how else we can help.
