Salulita fish taco's (for free)

Hey, just got back from an epic trip down to Sayulita, just an hours drive north of PV. No way was going to be able to pull a 9 day trip with just the boys, so the girls came along and enjoyed themselves while the boys got a little fishing in. Here's some good intel on a place to stay without all the PV hoop-la that goes with staying there. Great quiet little town, good surf, best fish tacos on the planet. Here's a picture of our villa's view....Infinity pool, a must for the ladies...

Got 6 dodo's the first time out on the panga from Pablo's 3 boat fishing fleet with my buddy Todd. Cost is 160 US for the whole day which includes bait (one scoop self caught in 20 minutes on the way out with a throw net), rods and tackle (if you want to use thiers), excellent spotting/support from our captain, with free ice and filleting for up to 4 people.
Talked to the guy who owns Sayulita Fish Taco and he requested we sell him our extra dorado in exchange for beer/taco credits. Let's just say that we all eat for free the entire trip........ He only gave us 40pesos/kilo, but that buys a lot down in Salulita. By far the best taco's I have ever ate. (and that is saying alot). He only uses dorado that is caught that day or the day before, he prefers the gringos, cause we ice the fish right away..... Cannot say enough good things about that place....... Also, the point in the pictures held a bunch of Rooster fish and pargo, way too much fun to explain using words. Lost about a 30-40 lber at the boat with light tackel, got a few small ones in for some pics. Anyway enjoy .... Going back next year for sure.....
Hasta,

ps. damm internet, got lot's more pic's but not having luck posting them, will try tomorrow. If anyone wants more info, ask and you shall recieve.

Hey, Montanaman,,,, Make sure to bring your flyrod (10W or better). Pablo's fishing fleet specializes in bait and switch techniques for roosters. If I had another day, would have been able to pull it off. Must do....

December is still prime, we rented one of the nicest places in Sayulita it was 2 bed/2 bath with lots of extra couches and went for 1600 for the week. Great deal. Comes with a maid every day (who makes meals at cost). The house was called Casa Martica (sp?). Check out Welcome to Sayulita rental houses and Sayulita vacation rental homes I think (sp?), there are a bunch of places like ours for rent. You will catch fish......

It is "just around the point" from Punta Mita. We did a few hours of surfing at Punta Mita, and came back and slayed the roosters at the point at Sayulita! Get some! Sorry my spelling is bad, check out the map for Sayulita........ Dodo's came just 1-2 miles off shore from the point. If you are in PV you got to go all the way out of the bay which is more miles than from where we left..... Good luck!

Re: Salulita fish taco's (for free)

OK not to rain on any parade here but selling fish to restaurants is NOT LEGAL...and Albert (of Sayulita Fish Taco) should know better...please release those fish next time i'm sure you don't need the fish sales to suppliment your starving family and killing baby roosterfish is DISGUSTING...those things are babies and will never get to that magical 50# mark now...thanks!!!

I'm sure you're a NEWBIE so you were relying on your "captain" for direction but now you know...release fish instead of killing them for no reason and NEVER, EVER kill a roosterfish again...those things are fucking tiny man...smaller than a snapper...WHAT?!?!?!

Remember bro...i'm not saying this to shit on your head just trying to educate you so it doesn't happen again...cause i'm sure you want your kids to have that kind of experience one day right?!?!

I'm going to go have a little talk with Albert over this one...

right on josh iagree 100%. pay for your food or you are taking food out of a fishermans kids mouth in sayulita. check your mexican fishing license Phil, if you even bothered to buy one, youll notice the rules stipulate that the take limit on dodos is 2 per person and may not be used for financial gain. gringos selling fish to other gringo businesses in mex. kinda makes you sick. catch and release and respect mexico and their people. you are on vacation not a business trip, this goes for you spearfishermen especially

I agree with JT and Gringofrijolero, Release it if you are not going to eat it all. Roosters are supposed to fun to catch, am told they do not eat well. Every boat I have fished with down there released the Roosters. Not trying to totally beat you up, but respect the sea and what it provides and it will give back. If you take a picture of it in the water, the results are fantastic, and you can share with friends and family.

Ok, I am now off of my soap box.

I am glad you enjoyed Sayulita, the place is fun. Food is awesome and inexpensive.
One of the best Cheeseburgers to be had are available there. Plus the lady selling the tamales on her four wheeler, are great also.
