| PV 12/8 & 12/9 sails & dodos
Well the time came and my father, my son and I went down to PV to fish with Capt. Josh. Last years trip was outstanding and we were hoping we could repeat again this year. The fishing and the temperature was totally different this year. Cool weather and cool water meant tuff fishing. The fishing was good....don't get me wrong. It's just not the wide open action I was so fortunate to enjoy in PV in the past. Day one
We met up with JT in the morning and hopped aboard the Conquistador. A very nice ride. The plan was to go look for the spinner dolphin pods and see if the tuna were there. He had found some the day before in the 125 to 150lb range. We headed out and began the search. We found some dolphins but not the right kind. No tuna home. We did manage a few dorado and a sail fish while we looked for the tunas. The fishing slowed and I told Josh that I had a sure fire cure for the slow action. I would go take a nap. Don't doubt the power of the nap. I have a proven record of taking a nap and having the fish turn on. Sure enough... just as I started to fade away I hear the ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ of a clicker and JT yelling "right rigger". Another sail fish came to boat side. A couple pics and back she went. Picked up a couple more dodos and called it a day.
We hit the condo and then went down to Margaritas where Hector was preparing our catch. A few margaritas, beers and shots of Jack later our food was ready. The boy was stoked that he could legally drink with us and took full advantage. Having dinner and drinks with the young man and the old man was very cool. Cant get much better. Day Two
Plan was to again look for the spinners. We set out with a plan JT put together and we found the porpoise and the tuna early in the morning. We set out the rigs and instantly got hooked up with a couple of dorado. We trolled around the spinners some more and picked up a sail on live bait. We could see the tuna breaking around us but they were not ready to bite yet. We kept at it and my dad was lucky enough to get the only tuna of the trip. About 30 pounds. It was a good sign that things were starting to change. Unfortunately, a bunch of other boats saw us and came over to work the school as well. That finshed it. The school could not take the pressure and everything went on lock down. The birds quit flying, the dolphins slowed their activity and the tuna dissapeared.
We decided to move off and look for another school to work. We looked a long time and caught a few more dodos. The fishing slowed even more so we went in shore and fished for roosters and pargo. I caught a permit in that area and then we decided to call it a day.
Back to the condo where we had another feast of the days catch. We had the reataurant prepare things and enjoyed it inside the condo. The restaurant was packed so the three of us sat in the codo piginn out on dodo and tuna while watching the fight on TV. That wasn't bad either.
JT and his crew did another outstanding job and I really enjoyed sitting up in the tower of the "Conquistador" shooting the shit with JT and enjoying a good cigar. We'll be back again making more and more memories.
Vaya con dios and Feliz Navidad you all

The nap tactic works everytime!!! Especially when fishing the mammals, if you already found the school, I TELL someone to lay down - makes the fish think noones paying attention...

The lack of tuna enabled your son to have a crack at the other species that are prevelant in those waters. Although not tuna, a hell of a lot of fun and a nice mixed bag! Congrats!
