I don't want want this post to come off sounding the wrong way, but its just so easy to get carried away when the fishing gets hot.
Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks for your consideration. | That is a great idea. I asked Capt to release any fish except a few mahi mahi for dinner when I fish with him this weekend, but he asked me to keep some tuna for his neighbors and I said OK. As long as tuna are not wasted, I think it is OK.

I don't doubt their word, especially in the slower season, but think the smaller ones are better table fare with less mercury.
In Mexico we often hear stories from some captains about giving extra fish away to friends and needy people. But in the height of the season, I think everyone usually has all the fillets they need when there is no scarcity.
Releasing more cows in the water after taking our pictures translates to higher odds that in a matter of months, there will be a better chance of one of these +300 pounders reaching record size.
So working together to produce a +400 pounder is worth the effort, IMO.

I don't ever plan on bringing back 1 oz of fish from PV. If Juan and Sanate need a couple, fine.
I'm fishing specifically for one fish. That one needs to come back to the dock and be weighed

You're right Matt, I am not in the 300 club yet. As you know I have been trying to live this down as I start my second season in PV, as your avatar with 4 big tuna on the deck never fails to make me feel so inferior.

With the increased fishing pressure, catch and release is the only thing that will save the fishery.
