Howdy Ed, and welcome to the nuthouse.......

I personally would pick a different month. Im sure that there are fish to be caught, inshore there are tons of different fish, but if you are wanting to go COW hunting, August-Feb are (I believe) the best months. I as sure I'll get corrected here.....but what the hell.

Re: fishing puerto vallarta in march

I went last March and there were some small tuna around. I would expect more this year as El Niņo has slowed their arrival and probable exit.

Re: fishing puerto vallarta in march

Typically there is a good Dorado bite and lots of 40 - 100 lb tuna around but this may be a big fish year as well if the El Nino materializes as some experts are predicting. Coco & Twiggy and good fisherman and the nicest people in all of Mexico (they are that nice/good of people).

Re: fishing puerto vallarta in march

Matt and I fished with them when they first started chartering, we were their guinea pigs Excellent people, very fun to fish with, the boat is a nice 30ft Bertram.

As others have said, if you are cow hunting, your odds of catching one usually in March are not that high, but then again, anything is possible, and if you are just going fishing to have fun and hope to catch some fish, I am sure you wont be disappointed. Usually the smaller schoolie tunas (20-80lbs) are around, but like Matt said, if El Nino does any weird things, you never know what can happen. And you might even catch a glimpse of some humpbacks....maybe even some whales too ...

Let us know how the trip goes.

Re: fishing puerto vallarta in march

The fishing should be great. I fished PV last year in May and caught Blue Marlin, Yellow Fin to 130 #, Rainbow Runners etc. And Coco and Twiggy are good fisher people. I have seen them hooked up many times.
Enjoy, Bill Allison

Danny is one of the best Captains in Vallarta. August should be a prime time to get big yellowfin tuna.

All I can say Mark is, start working out Especially your legs, danny is amazing, but if you want to fight the fish standup, you wil need to work out those quads and hammies

August is hot, sizzlin action...I am sure you wont be disappointed.
