well......I have 2 days booked with JT... but I have a couple of other options for the rest of the time... believe me, if my wife found out I fished 7 days with JT on my own, I'd be shot
Whatever, I am going to be out on the water for a good amount of time is my point..you gotta do the time if you want to pay for the crime ... that is one thing I learned from all my trips down there...
more time on water = better chance of COW

G | You are wise beyond your years. In December I fished 3 straight days with Danny and had to tea bag my nuts in ice water for a week after bouncing around on the ride out to the rock. Got to find a combination jock and rod belt for the next trip with him....Nice to have padded seats when your wave running at 20knots.

Fact remains, those planes are a liability waiting to happen. I can't think of any other carrier, that I have ever heard of, that still flies the DC-9's (which were built sometime in the 1970s but look like they were built in the 50s.) Good luck to all of you that flies those things. | Salvaging parts from decommisioned aircraft is perfectly legal. There are restrictions on certain structural parts and stuff like that but they don't just cut the aircraft up for scrap fer Pete's sake.
Check out this site: clicky
According to the websites numbers about 4.5% of the DC-9's ever built have suffered a total hull loss (108 lost of 2350 built). By comparison, 737's have sustained a loss percentage of about 2.6% of those built (115 lost of 4338 built and counting). Neither is stellar; a zero percent loss rate is what we would all like to see but that just won't happen.
Of course every airframe has a finite lifespan for passenger revenue flight; beyond that the plane can usually be approved for freighter use only and re-certified almost indefinitely. Notice I said almost
I guess what I really want to say is that there are no absolutes; it isn't black and white. Brand new airplanes crash while some old models just seem to fly forever. You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. And don't forget, even considering all the old aircraft in the worlds fleets today, flying is still statistically safer than driving.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled fishing site.

Mexico relies heavily on tourism and they are not going to shut an airline down for political reasons.....that is so ridiculous. However, if they aren't paying their taxes or other financial obligations, of course they are going to be shut down.....no different than not paying your taxes in the US. And like the US, if you can't pay your taxes, then you can't buy the other essentials (its simple economics G....maybee that's why your a scientist and not a finance guy......jk ). Also, if only some of the planes are coming back online and not all, I'd bet those planes are being grounded for safety reasons until they can be fixed. Why else would only some of the planes come back online?

Dude, there are people down there reporting this, not me...why you jumpin on my back Besides, I have an MBA and own a business now, so I'd say I have pretty good grasp of economics... and that is exactly what Jonathan was reporting, that they did not pay their dues to the government so they were shut down...maybe they made a partial repayment and were allowed to fly just a few planes, dont you think that is a possibility?
Anyways, it dont matter..I am gonna cancel and get me a new flight.... wonder if I tell my credit card not to pay them, if I can still fly on the one leg down there with delta...then get a different flight back.. hmmm.. I already have the paper tix by hand.. I would assume if I dispute this charge, that my CC just gets my money back from my insurance and not the actual business that charged me? Anyone know?

You should call the agent that booked your flight (probably orbitz huh?) and have them provide options for the return flight, keeping your original outbound flight.
