DC-9s don't need all their rivets to get airborne...

Re: Aero California Grounded

Another couple grand of caulking and duct tape and those babies will be good for another 40 years. Gonna miss watching the rivets on the wings spin in place while you're in the air..

I have been told by a friend who knows an AeroCal stew that their last payroll checks bounced. Those DC-9's arent worth shit - fuel inefficient and a maintenance problem. Where the hell are they getting spare parts? canabilizing the rest of the fleet? Hopefully the routes are worth something and an investor group can bring in some new planes and restart service

Re: Aero California Grounded

I hope so clarke... or else I have no flight back...hmmmm...decisions decisions....the routes they have their are prime... alaska should snarf them up themselves...or aeromex...someone please honor my TICKET damn it.. whatever, I can always go to my credit card company and tell them Aero Cal is out of business and give me my money back... i would then have a free flight down there on Delta and just have to pay for a one way back...which might cost as much as I get reimbursed anyways

It will get resolved, because La Paz has no other means of service from the states.

G.......you are soooooo full of shit if you don't think safety plays a roll in this. They were using parts from decomissioned planes. Even continuing to use those parts after being told "Not to do it". Even if it was a US FAA issue, being that it is a Mexican company, the US FAA would have the Mexican FAA impose the restrictions. Fact remains, those planes are a liability waiting to happen. I can't think of any other carrier, that I have ever heard of, that still flies the DC-9's (which were built sometime in the 1970s but look like they were built in the 50s.) Good luck to all of you that flies those things.

Re: Aero California Grounded

Matt...why am I full of shit? I am just quoting Jonathan Roldan who lives in la paz and has more ins down there than ANY of us do.

I never said Aero Cal is the safest airline, I hate flying them personally.... but I had to book this flight because my wife is having her baby shower on Sunday.....so I might have to switch to a Saturday flight back.

Jonathan is saying some aero cal flights will begin flying this week... so if it was a safety issue you think they could fix all these airplanes that quickly? Doubt it...

Whatever it is, I am going to look for a different flight back...dont need to be worrying about whether I have a flight back or not..

Re: Aero California Grounded

You sure that wasnt one of the local hookers?? hahahahah..

Well, this is a different flight because I am taking Delta on the way down, and aero cal on the way back.. $319 round trip... only reason I took aero cal back is because its the earliest flight back and gets me to the baby shower for my wife in a reasonable fashion..now I might have to leave PV Saturday 430pm or so...and thus maybe get 1 less day of fishing

$319.00 is incredible. The flight I am taking to fish with JT in Hualtuco in May Mexicana - Mex cty-Hualtuco $530.00 including tax and tip. When you fly Delta, do they take you to fucking Atlanta first?
