| Biggest Tuna of the Year for Capt. Danny on the Marla
Headed to PV last week for our annual vacation and secured Capt. Danny and the Marla for Tuesday the 27th.
Was supposed to leave the dock at 6.30AM but Danny called the night before and asked if we could go early as the day before the bite at El Banco was early.
We arrived at 4.45 and headed out to the bait guys, purchased cabillitos and then headed out to the Bank. I have to tell you that the ride out, and all the stars in teh sky were amazing. Living so close to big cities, I never see stars as bright or plentiful.
We arrived at the bank and started trolling for skipjacks, TUNA CANDY as Danny calls them. Made about 6 or 7 in ten minutes and then put a couple out to do their thing. About ten minutes went by and BAM, the rod starts screaming and it was GAME ON!!!!! I looked around for the chair and was told that it was removed to make more room. I only fish twice a year so I am not the best at standup fighting. While holding on for life, plus the fact that I couldn't replace the rod if I lost it, Danny and Jose got the harness around me and I was able to get the job done.
After an hour, we saw color and after a couple final dives, two gaffs were in the fish and the fish was in the boat. Measured 75 inches long and 52.2 inches in girth. Danny's quick calculation was approximately 250 pounds!!!!!! I,ll post pictures when I get home.
We continued fishing and hooked in to a nice sailfish of about 80-90 pounds that was brought alongside for pictures and the hook was removed as he/she swaw away without a problem. A 40 pound pargo came up next and after that, Danny suggested we put out plastic in search or my first blue or black marlin.
15 minutes passed and we got a hard knockdown that turmed out to be a fairly large dorado. While fight this fish we saw a lot of dorado in the water. In about an hour, we ended up catching several dorado in the 15 to 40 pound class. One thing I have never seen before in PV were sharks. There were dozens of them circling the boat, feasting on the cabbies. If we didn,t have them around we probably would have caught many more dorados.
All in all, a GREAT trip with Capt. Danny. He said that it should only get better as the water temperature cools down a bit. Wish I had more time and could stay a little longer.
If you are thinking about coming to PV, come down. The weather is nice, the people are friendly, the beer is cold, and the fishing, well, it will be a while before I can top this trip.
Best to all.
Tonyfrompa.

Have to admit, I have been very fortunate on my last two trips with Danny.
Hopefully the bite will continue and we will be reading reports of bigger and better fish.
This tuna had shrimp and the remainder of some small skipjacks in its stomach. Don't know if it had time for our bait to make it all the way down there or not.
I am using the computer at the internet cafe at a neighboring hotel so will have to wait until next week to post pictures.
Good fishing to all.

| Pictures from the trip
Finally got home and was able to download the pictures from the trip.
Have to give thanks to the wife who gave up a day of her vacation to go out on the boat and take pictures (she caught a 135 pounder last year and wanted no part of another tuna). Have to say, she got some nice shots.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate, especially next week for the tournament, and we will see some more big fish being caught down there in PV.
