First of all, thanks to Bogii for hooking me up with Lora and Largo on short notice... came to find out the guys sacraficed their day off for a day at Corbetena with me and my wife - not that I wouldnt have done the same.
Hit up the current/color line about 15 miles off Punta Mita for 4 dodos right away in the am on the way out. Right after we arrived at the rock we got blown up on the short bait by something LARGE - but no dice. 5 minutes later we get a double on some respectible yellowfin +70lbs... The water was not a great color, Lora said that the water had rolled over the last few days but water temp is down to 84. For the rest of the day we just slayed dorado as we trolled caballitos for tuna...probably caught another 15 fish. Ended with a nice sailfish at the end of the day that fought harder than any sail I have ever caught, damn near a 200 yard run. We fished it hard as hell, we were the last boat off the rock.
I know alot of you asshats on this board have been out with Lora and Largo, and I have heard the good word, but I have to drop these guys another plug... I have fished a fair few locales in mexico and around the world and I have never been fishing with a crew that was more respectful, and fun to fish with. I knew it was going to be a good day when we pulled up on a log in the morning and Lora hands me a rod and says, go get em... These guys will help you if you want it but will leave you to it if you have enough game to get it done. I used to fish east cape every year but stopped going because I could never get crews to let me fish - even after getting to know many of them personally... Good conversation, some shocking stories (lora knows what I am talking about) and some great ideal boat comparisons just to finish it off. Hands down best charter I have ever paid for.
Its about to pop down here boys... I know the season has been a long time coming but the water temp is coming down and the tuna are starting to show their heads... if you can pull off the grind in Nov/Dec I would highly recommend it, along with a ride with the Mita Mafia...
Some pics for the junkies...
