| PV report 10/15-10/18
Managed to squeeze in a trip down to PV to fish 3 days with Danny Osuna and a half day panga with Danny Gomez.
As the veterans here have attested to many times, Danny Osuna is an outstanding captain and a great guy. He fishes really hard, LONG days and tries many different techniques to get you bites. Knowledgeable angler who fishes aggressively and has a good sense of humor. We had a great 3 days with many tuna in the 50-70lb range (no cows showed for us), nice sized dorado to 45lb every 20 minutes, sailfish, striped marlin and black marlin. Drifting the kite with the cabbies was the trick for the tunas, we didnt get any hits on the slow-trolled skippies, despite some very convincing meter marks. The big girls are around. Billfish were hitting the dragged plastic really well. Although for PV standards this was "slow" (saturday was our slowest day), we had a great time and will return to fish with Danny again.
For our half day before the airport, we got introduced to Danny Gomez of Dharma Sportfishing. Another really good angler and great captain to fish with. Went over to marietas and the mita buoy to fish for roosters, the candy bait was the bluerunners ("cookies"), we got some HUGE hits that broke us off, probably amberjack. With minutes to spare before dashing to the harbor, we hooked into the roosters - great fun. Would also fish again with Danny G on his super panga offshore or inshore.
Stayed at the La Cruz Inn, excellent accommodation from John and Carol. Packed breakfast and lunches and a freezer for your catch. Highly recommended.
Overall a brilliant time, despite the lack of cows for us, although other boats got a few. If this is "slow", then I look forward to a day in PV that is WFO ! Pics are from a disposable - not really my gig.
