Question DIY fly fishing in PV

Posting here is new to me and so is the fishing in Puerto Vallarta where I'll be for the first time at the end of February. I've heard some good reports about inshore fishing, but the info is scanty, especially for a fanatic like myself who favors a wand. It seems like most of the members on this board like the Punta Mita area, but I'm looking at a place near the Marina. Have heard of some fast fishing for small stuff--jacks, yellowtail and croakers near the mouth of the river just N. of the airport. Looks to be a short walk from the marina. Am wondering if there might not be some snook in the river, also. I do have the name of a guide for snook fishing and will certainly give it a try from a panga. Any info will be appreciated.

Right on the money with the river mouth....beware of the crocs.....but don't let that scare you. You should call Mr snook as he has the snook dialed in here. Lots of jacks and some snappers, caimancillos, and other small fish arounb there. If the skippies are thick in the bay you should rent a panga and try to get into those also as it can be quite hectic when they are foaming out there. I've done quite a bit of fly fishing from various spots and had some great successes, so i wish you much luck amigo!!

Shore fly fishing for snook at the river mouth? Crocs? Sun? Sand? Sounds like a good time to me!

Hey Kurt,
Did you get into Seattle ok?
Shit I hope it rains on the weekend like they say for our area man! If I have to stay in the freakin airport waiting to leave...

The best flyfishing guide in PV is capt. Chuy Cruz (boat DAMIFINO2 - mako 23).
I come to PV from Italy every year to fish with him.
He is a true specialist in flyfishing.
With him you can have the chance to flyfish a lot of different species.
From Sailfish to Roosterfish, from Jacks to the powerful MILKFISH (yes in PV there are huge schools of giant >20pounds milkfish, the dream of a flyangler...).
If you want, send him an email: chuysadventure@hotmail.com
Merry Xmas to everyboby

I concur......He is absolutely awesome with the wand himself and really knows his stuff. When it's wide open...anyone will do........if not, Chuy will get you on the fish....he is the flyfishing answer to the Osuna bros!!

Thanks for the info, gentlemen. As for the warnings, I'm not about to be scared off by some scaly, overgrown lizards when we have to chase away grizzly bears on the way to the outhouse up here.
