Headed out to the Rock aboard TOP GUN to do some tuna fishing.
Weather was great after taking a beating on the 3rd.

Capt Juan decides we need fresh bait...so we make bait quickly and head back out to troll for the tuna that were jumping aall around us....

15 minutes later it was fish on....All 600-650# of marlin.....

We fought this fish for 5 hours and 45 minutes only to break him off about 10 ft from the boat....close enough for me

cant wait to try our luck again

Damn........almost got it !!! Glad to see things improved for you guys. It seems the trick for those tuna are irons. We threw bait at em for little to no love but the irons worked every time.

Jay, nice report, I got home late last night and were already talking about another trip in November. It was nice meet you and your wife and i hope we hook up again to chase tuna some day.

i must say, Marlin put up one hell of a fight. I would have never imagined fighting a fish of this size in a stand up belt (it kicked my ass). i've only seen it done on tv with guys in chairs usually in the shade. Many thanks to Juan for putting us on our first Marlin, what beast of a fish. I'd also like to thank Manny for putting me on my first Yellow Fin Tuna on our july 3rd outing. We got 2 Yellow Fin Tuna in the first 30 mins after arriving to the rock. Mother nature was not kind. the seas were rough and were getting worse so shortly after landing the second we headed in. After making it back into the bay and finding calmer water we opted to drag some gear around for a few hours to no avail.
I wanted to fish again on the 7th with Manny, but this was my Honeymoon and my bride had other plans for me.

All I can say is PV is a great place, I met some great people and I made some great friends
