Question First timer in PV 6/7 - 6/17

So I'm going to be down in PV for 10 days in June and am heading out with Captain Juan one of the days. I typically fish out of San Diego and was wondering if you guys have any special lures, tips or tricks I could use down in PV going for the big Yellow Fin Tuna. I've read quite a bit on the forums and my best bet is to listen to the captain! But the way I see it you can never have too many tricks in your pocket!

Here's to my first of hopefully many trips to PV!

Thanks,
BryceR8dr

Juan doesn't need any new tricks, lures, or shenanigans. You'll do just fine amigo, you're going with one of the best of the best. Goodluck and I hope you get the fish your after

Here's a tip.......pray that the water cleans and warms up, as June can be a rough time for large Yellow Fin Tuna.......but then again, it's cowtown and anything is possible......good luck amigo......Juan is awesome and will put you on fish!

I can give you advice that Juan probably wont...since you wont see him in time.

Get plenty of sleep, and dont get wasted the night before. June can start to get hot and humid, although not as bad as August or Sept.

Still, you never know if a big fish hits, and you dont want to be fighting a beast on no sleep or hung over. Its a recipe for disaster. If you are serious about catching a big fish, save the drinking til after you catch the first big one

Juan is excellent, no need to bring ANYTHING from home, just a cooler to bring back your catch if you are interested in doing so.

Bring nothing.... I love it! Cause I hate dealing with baggage! On a separate note, who would be a good contact to go out a couple of days in the morning for a few hours to get warmed up for the big trip with Juan?

Lora, Kurt, or Danny are always mentioned on here as first choices for inshore stuff, but they do very well offshore as well, but form their little pangas, though I dont think Kurt's can be considered a panga anymore.

I have only fished with Lora out of those three, and he has always put me on roosters, dorado and toro while fishing inshore..oh, some really big needlefish too

But I keep seeing kurt with pics of some big ones as well, so he might have a trick or two up his sleeve as well. And heard many good things of Danny (not Osuna, Dhamar)

I dont think anything inshore would get you prepared for what you are capable of catching offshore though, but I suppose it beats sitting on a beach perpetuating a tan

Good luck, have fun, definitely do party, and hopefully the fish show up.
