Fly fishing & Flies for Sayulita???

Howdy,

I'm headed to Sayulita in May and will be bringing my trusty 8, 10, & 12wt rods. I should be doing at least one day from a Panga plus trying some beach fishing. I have fished from a panga out of Punta Mita before with some luck a few years ago, but I'm a noob when it comes to saltwater.

Besides Clousers and poppers is there any other flies I should be tying?

Also,

What are my chances fishing from the beach? Last time I was in PV, I hooked several SMALL (& I mean small) jacks from the beach.

Any tips, locations, advice, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

Mark

Try and hook up with Kurt of Esperanza Sportfishing (AKA frijolitos), as he regularly takes out fly fisherman and does very well (he has a sweet center consul). He is active on this board and may even contact you to provide additional information.

Lefty's Deceivers, blue over white, red over white.
Can throw a fly at least a 100 feet?

Find birds working and bait balls. I wouldn't waist my time blind casting.
You can also go to the Baja forum and find George Landrum (sp) he has some tandem rigs that cast OK

we are coming up on the months to fish roosters and dodos from certain beaches. also can be jacks snook snapper. blind cast poppers early to bring up roosters. early! like when the sun is still not up. if you want to go fish a few spots send me a pm and i can steer you in the right direction.
