PV - Tuna, snapper, etc report

A fun couple of days fishing with Brant, Manny, et al aboard Aleta this weekend. Ya gotta go with the flow this time of year and fish for what, where and how you can. We threw the veritable kitchen sink at the denizens of the deep this weekend, fishing from Corbetenia up to the edge of Isla Cleofus and had a blast catching tuna up to 80lbs, snapper, pargo, amberjacks, dorado, marlin, bonito and a whole host of other criters you need a book to identify.

The water was 69 degrees and crappy color at Corbetenia on Saturday but we managed three nice tunas up to 80lbs and a bunch of other fish. By Monday the water had warmed to 76 degrees with a south current - its PV, you never know.

We brought down some of the new Lucanus jigs from Shimano and they worked great ( thanks Barrett). My second drop with one I hooked something solid. Wind and grind a few minutes later a 70lbs tuna comes spiraling up out of the dirty water - HOLY CRAP - I guess they are worth $18.00! The factory hooks almost bent out and we did lose a couple of nice fish later on before changing them out. Brant's tuna was caught using a 8 inch squid coughed up by a toro we hauled in. The squid, pinned and flylined on a 10/0 circle, got inhaled by the nice tuna.

Brant with an AJ - the Aj's had a pinkish hue to their color - maybe from eating squid?

Body of a squid next to the snapper. We found this one on the surafce being eaten by another 5 ft long squid! Yikes
