Green canyon is place to be!! When the trip for Friday night was scheduled little did we know that we would be fishing in the closest blue water to the dock. When you are running a hundred plus miles offshore the last thing you worry about is tuna fishing in green water! Luckily by the time we made it 20 miles deeper into the canyon the water turned blue and the tuna were having there usual flying fish feast which lasted about another hour. We were a little late getting to the bite but still ended up with 5 yellowfin from 40 to 100 pounds! The weather was a little on the rough side going 3 to 5 feet for most of our 2 day trip but the twin vee took it in stride. The boat is so stable at one point I was almost feeling sorry for the big sportfishers that were fishing next to us because of the way they were pitching and rocking. However, that feeling passed quickly with thoughts of a cool air conditioned cabin and a home cooked meal. On the way back in the crew put their limit of nice 6 to 15 pound red snapper on ice along with a 10 pd gag grouper and a 40 pd warsaw!! Capt. Jim said the warsaws had been stupid easy to get the 1 fish per boat limit and he was not kidding! First drop 1 lost bait and second drop 40 pd warsaw in the fishbox!! I was impressed!! When the fish hit the floor Capt. Jim just looked at me and smiled. Throw in the nice gag we caught snapper fishing and a mangrove and that's not a bad catch for the crew from Pine construction! I'm sure they will be back to ice down some more fish in the future! Come ice down your share!!
