30.6 Pound Sheephead

I am posting this for a friend Matt
Click the image to open in full size.

On August 29,2009 around 7:00 am he was paddling his kayak just outside the Newport Beach Harbor mouth.
He had just put out a green / white wahoo bomb on a Penn Calypso spinning rod with a Penn 104 CS spinning reel
spooled with Spyderwire 30 # test. After paddling not more than 100 yards he hooks up with this beauty of a fish. After about a fifteen minute battle it was taken to the Balboa Anglers Club where it weighed in at 30.6 pounds. measured 32-1/2''. It also has been submitted to the California Fish and Game. It looks to be a state record.
