The nickname Nonong was given by my late father and taken from the name of the son of the late, great, Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon.

Laguna de Bay is polluted. It used to be rich in fish and porosus crocodilus. There are efforts to try to save the Pasig River and the lake. The area was a ditching zone for U.S. aircraft carrier planes during the softening raids just before the Liberation of Manila. My father was a guerilla against the Japanese forces and he told me about pilots being picked up by PBY Catalinas in Laguna de Bay.

I used to fish the outer breakwater of Manila Bay. Binuangan Island off Obando, Bulacan was back in the early 70's and there was still yellowfin tuna there. I did not fish out there but mostly cultured brackish pond tilapia and recently, cultured pond groupers.

The Corregidor Island channel was good. Bottom fishing.

Your Shark Shields probably scared those apex predators away, including the Yellow Fin Tuna.

Please tell me more about the dreaded Tilapia you used to go after.

Actually "they" are not mine. They are really of South African origin and were called shark pods. The term shark shield is the modified smaller model.

The tuna was over-fished as was most species. There was no control or protected areas yet. Tuna is making a come back in the Anilao and Mabini areas of Batangas. They are spreading.

Wahl pilgrim ya sure know how to be a hot dog shootist with yer mouth. You said a mouthful old scout!

If you saw the vids in the shark shield site.... why was the tuna not attacked? As for me jumping in the water.... i can do that with confidence. You want to be my sponsor along with USNavySeals.com? I will need insurance and 2 units of the device. One attached to a propulsion unit and another on my scuba tank. How much are we talking here amigo?

I would have been more willing to believe that he was a speed freak than a crack head.
