Hey Nonong, I rode in one of those boats like yours with a B&G motor from Subic City to Gaine's Beach and back many years ago. Bad ass rig, I'd love to fish in one sometime. What kind of fish do you catch in the Islands? Got any safety tips?

Well Dave a banca is the basic Philippine boat with bamboo pontoon outriggers. They can be small 6 or 7 footers to big 40 footers. The Briggs and Stratton is the basic powerplant. Diesels are used in the bigger bancas.
Many of our brave fishermen are like the character portrayed in "The Old Man and the Sea" of Ernest Hemingway. Rugged, independent, proud and God-fearing Filipinos who provide seafoods to the markets ashore. Eddie is one boatman who brought in blue marlin short of his 17 footer. Irwin told me of 200 pound commercial handline snapping without ever seeing the big fish surface. If you think this is easy.... try it on a center-console without rods and reels. Just handline and a 10 hour fight. I respect these guys who go down to sea in small boats.
The place i go out to is 2,000 meters deep off Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon. There are huge sharks there, wahoo, blue marlin, sailfish, big yellowfin tuna, dogtooth tuna, barracuda, man-sized GT, smoker king mackerel and the usual pelagics in Philippine waters.
Off zambales, the last resting place of the Pacific Fleet Sub "Harder" lies near Caiman Point. This down the throat shot sub commanded by Sam Dealey was a legend in her own time. A jap destroyer killer. I wonder if Ballard can find the wreck? The waters here are rich in yellowfin tuna and big mackerel.
The kayak would be ideal off Sorsogon but only nearshore. There is strong current and upwelling and big sharks. My boatmen told me of a blood cloud they spotted near the surface while i was trolling there. I usually sit on the deck and did not see it. The thing is some poor subsistence fisherman must have taken a dip because of the summer heat or his sail fell into the water. I was looking for the small six or seven footer banca canoe without outrigger pontoons. Nothing. It must have been swept out to the open Pacific by the current. Safety tip? Never go dipping in the open and even nearshore in known shark waters. Always go out with a buddy and try a sharkshield attachment on a kayak.

Big Small Dog speak with forked tongue(my apologies to albacora)......
He sounds like a pinoy-anglers intellectually challenged individual who has a fixation on me. Megalomania coupled with delusions of superiority just like the overman of the double cross aryan symbol of the upper crust racial supremacy fanatics. Do you understand this language hijo?
It is spelled W-H-O-A and i am not named LongDuckDong. You gave unlawful provocation and that is on record in your own type.
If i am shooting BS as you said.... where is your proof? Head on down south to Bicol Region and try out the fish that can snap 200 pounds test commercial handline. Hey genius.... It is spelled T-I-L-A-P-I-A and they are freshwater cichlids.
Charm! Charm! You act less than a don and a caballero amigo. Perhaps you have hormonal imbalance that needs to be corrected.... si? Now... adios.
