Middle grounds and beyond 7/18

Took RikT and his Girlfriend Annie out today, Hoping for a few shots at the Homie Yellowtail's at the Islands...

Flat Calm run all the way out... water 70, ALL the boats but 1 are parked at the North end of the South island.. Cool. I put out 3 Dines way back and start my up and back runs on the middle islands.
3/4 way down the firs run and Annie is On.... a nice size Calico is on the deck...

Rig back up and I put a nice Cali on... then the right kind goes off, Annie is on again and it's a big fish! She works it for 5 minutes then POP... checked the line and you guessed it... thrashed for about 15'.... she was owned by a nice Homeguard in the rocks...

1 more lap and she is on again.... this one runs up and away... see a trophy bearing down on us... wave him off. no good... backing down on the fish.. Rik pulling for annie so we can get closer, finaly get on the radio and tell him to fuckin turn!
That worked... put Annie back on the rod and with a little more work and a nice gaff from Rik we're on the board with a nice 19# Yellow!!!

That was it for this round as the rest of the fleet saw us, and came over.. 2 sporties and all the others??? oh well.

Heard lots of reports from the area from the Pile to the South island holding biting Tails.. Headed toward the 425.. maybe find a Virgin bush... NOT
But did see a huge pod of dolphin doing the right thing.. so stopped in front and thru bait... NOT
But did notice that my Shitty RULE baitpump quit again... Man these things suck ass!
So it's to the bucket brigade everytime I stopped or all the water leaves the tank and the Sardines we have left don't like that.. Headed back to the pile, fished 2 paddies.. no bueno for us.
Back to the Middle ground 1 more big Cali and 3-4 small ones.. No more tails.
Into the flats for 1 log cuda and 2-3 TR's
Then thats all folks! Water heading to the 425 was 73 degrees..... where are the DoDo's???

Met Curt and Saluki on Curts Beautiful SkipJack! They made the effort for the Albi's and then some from this picture...

All in all a great day on the water, good friends, cold beer and nice conditions...
1 Nice Yellowtail, 2 calico and 2 Sandbass kept... Need to change the Baitpump:FU:
Oh and some asshole decided my starboard guideon was a monkeybar at the ramp... musta bee swinging on it or something.. but bent it to shit... so that when I was bringing the boat on and guideing off it... well lets just say I have a little fiberglass repair todo...Fuckers.

What is it about parking lots and trailers that people just have to run into them or fuck with them... cause you not there .........

Oh well, off the water for 2 weeks due to a Wedding at Calafia next weekend.. and some minor repairs..

Later!

Yea we were right behind the DD at about 4 and could smell the cheeseburgers when you guys dropped the pick next to the FishemanIII at the Pipe.

Metered fish, they just didn't want to chew.

Nice way...

Good job at saving the Yellowtail for your friend....

We pulled up to one of the paddies and Brian yells out "Do-Do..."
We threw out a bunch of bait, but no takers. We musta spooked them.
Tried everything in the book to get them up and biting - FOR NOT....

Have fun at the wedding while the rest of us will be catching Blue-Fin.....

MuuuuuHaaaaaaaHaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
