Launched from Dana Point for the first time @ 11:30 AM, the new ramp is pretty sweet up there. Took two buddies with me for an overnight to the island. Ran over at around 30 knots on a flat ocean. Had a two day permit so we picked up a can then went off to make macs and scout spots. Found millions of macs in about 15 FT of water where we were going to hoop, how convenient. Started with 8 nets but the bait stealers were getting the best of us so we pulled 3 and used 5. After we set the nets a boat pulls up and two divers enter the water and dive the coastline just inside where our nets are setup. Pulled 13 keeper bugs by 9:00 when the moon came out from behind the clouds. When that happened the bugs stopped crawling all together. During the time one of the divers mistook my boat for his and came very close to the boat when we were working one of our nets, had to try hard to not run him over

The wind was starting to blow and a NW swell was developing and nothing was crawling so by 11:30 PM we decided, screw the can, lets head home. Back home by 3:00 AM, sorry no pics and no numbers, but let us say these were quality bugs and it was not real busy that night where we were.
