beginners luck at the OB Pier

Took a few friends to the OB peir today for some first time pier fishing. Right off the bat i had them catching Some queens, Mackeral, and Surf Perch. then at about 8:00 using some anchovies and a bobber the bonita started biting. I caught a few myself but I baby-sat most of the time keeping them catching fish while i ket up on the bait. Hey,at least next time they will come with me so i can redeem myself. if anyone has some suggestions as to what i should try next time im all ears!

mainline swivel asting buble swivel 4-6' leader and a 1.5" piece of slurpee or Mickey D's straw and a trebel hook. Cast that shit out and reel in at a moderate speed and watch the bonies hit it.
I learned it from a little old asian dude. Only thing I do different from him is I use the casting buble he used a modified pill bottle.
