what am i doing wrong any tips

Went out yesterday and today started early, went out side the domes lookin for threshers. Got a knock down and didnt stick yesterday, trolled for many hours longer with no luck. went out today trolled from 7 - 1 with one very small mako. also curious to what the black flags represent out side the dimes about 3-4 miles. any tips would be helpful really want to get one.

I had a black flag bouy set experience once off the HB Flats. It was a gill net doing what looked like DFG fish stock counting. Don't set your hook between them or drift through them. Almost impossible to lift hook/rope by hand that was stuck in the net. Thats what I recall, but I have had a few today. Nice day on the beach today!
