News 4/21 LJ fun with flying fish

After working the outside for a whole lot of nothing, I came back in to one of my rockfish spots. Saw something break on the surface but couldn't ID. Headed a little shallower and the flyline got ripped but didn't stick. Then the bottom bait starts singing. Flipped it in gear and turned around to see a thresher tail slap the water. Little guy, but fun. He was foul hooked and got wrapped quickly so he didn't run much.

Then I unwrapped him and he took off, turned around, charged the boat, and came shooting out of the water like a missile. Got about 2 ft out of the water and landed about 2ft from me. I really thought he was going to land in my lap. Pretty cool little scrapper. He looked tasty like a veal, but was released to grow.

Thanks to Chris and Tyler for some awesome pics.
