7/4 - LJ Hali

Finally I have something worth posting, been a while... Got a real late solo start today, arrived at LJ around 2:30, trolled around in 71 - 73 degree water, which was kinda green but clear. The wind was up for about an hour then it got nice.

Picked up the lines and was about to call it a day when I decided to hit a spot for a lingcod or some reds. Fishing at about 100 feet, around 5:30 I set my rod down in free spool, grabbed some water and heard the clicker spaz once. Drank some water, then grabbed the line while the pole was in the rod holder and it felt like kelp, then BLAMMO! This guy went 38", didn't get a weight but would estimate 25lbs? Made a nice saltwater bath and headed home. So, this was my first legal Hali by rod n' reel, pretty stoked on that. The ass kicker on this was I was using an old favorite megabait, hook's all but rusted over and beat to shit.

Good times...

Pretty good, I like it. The first couple of times I got the deck bloody I made the mistake of not getting water on it before it dried and was a scrubbing fool. It's not as hot on the feet as I thought it would be and have great traction when the deck gets wet.
