Talking Getting some tail.... 8/17

Well, I'm tired as hell...... But it's a good thing, because I had forgotten what it was to pull on a yellowtail, especially when they are trying to make a run to the kelp....

Went out with Gene on the "Genelie" on his 21 triumph to what was supposed to be easy, unbelieveable limits of Albies, Yellow Fin Tuna, yellows... Before we got there, doing 18 knots or so we got airborne, motor out of water and everything... On went the lifejackets... Stated trolling at the 371 at about 6 AM and headed for the 390. Got about 3 miles south and found a paddy that was unoccupied... Dropped in a dine and away it went..... good yellow on board... Gonna be a great day...

Pretty much every drop was a yellow, pretty much all over the size spectrum. Had another boat slide in, and get hooked up also.

Here's the fun part. Talked to John W.G. on the radio and let him know what we were doing, and he wanted to know our #'s. Told us we were in the right place and to hold out to mid morning, when the bite started the day before. So, I guess John wasn't the only one listening to our numbers.. In the middle of boating our 7th yellow, I hear an engine throttling down, and look up to see the Dolphin come barreling into our paddy. Didn't mind too much, other than the fact he almst hit the paddy. But, as soon as their bait and chum hit the water, the water exploded. 4 guys on their boat hooked up immediately. Actually quite pretty seing all these bright yellow tails slapping the top of the water.

Anyway, the bite was good enough that I let one small one go and we farmed 5 or so, and still got limits.... We got our 10th, and that was about one for every boat that was now around our paddy... :, so we took off.

The fish that we got were quite varied, with 3 bing 5 or 6 pounds, on up to 3 being over 20. Topped out with one at 24.

I'm damn sore, but had a blast. 2 weeks till my Dad comes and we hit the overnighter, cant wait!!!

Gene, I had a great day, thanks a bunch for the invite...

P.S. Nice talking to everyone out there today (Boiler Maker, Misuse & Kep, Chuck, Frank, Joel). Even heard from Frank on his way back from San M. Apparently got into quite a bit, pretty much the entire mix. Didn't get many details though....
Oh, and Travis, why didn't you come out to get that Mola Heart you said you'd eat...

Ya know Sean, if Gene would have jumped in the water and started swimming around that paddie you guys had, he probably could have attracted a whole school of dodo's, as he would have looked like a big lit up bull dorado with that hat and pants.

Shoon...glad to see ya got to pull on something out there.....ya picked a miserable day to be offshore, hummm? What a rotton, confused sea, and the alberts disappeared to boot. Nothing wrong with limits of yellowtail, though!
