8/6 coastal to 181/182

Got a little late start, but atleast the crowd was gone from Dana landing. Whoever striped that lot should be shot, not enough angle to get a truck and trailer between the lines without doing the trailer hustle.

Talked/saw to D Bar leaving EB, nice rig. He was going shark fishing.

So we decided to run North up the coast. First stop was @ MB, Ebco was making bait in front of the rollercoaster, for nada. Headed towards LJ.

Ride tide was thick, we continued on up the coast. Red tide was even thicker as we went north past Solana beach, as far as the eye could see.

Flat greasy conditions, boat was running great, we turned west. 8 miles towards the 181,the red tide was still there. Somewhere after that it cleared up.

Great conditions offshore, lots of bait balls{2 eyes and a wiggle}. We found a killer patty, somewhere between the 181/182 area. 70 degree water, lots of bait, deep blue. Dolphins greyhounding around chasing bait. We decide to really work it.

We set up shop, made some mini macks, and set them out. Then it went wide open on these blue guys...

We had our fill and headed home. Word from down south was scratchy...
That 181-182 area looks really good for a little later in the month, but for now, dont waste your gas.
Talked to Dos Locos, can a guy have a shit eating grin over the radio? You guys deserve that rig! Andale!

Thanks Frank. Was good talking to you man. Boat ran great for us. Problem with the trim tabs...no power? We had all you wanted short lings and WSB and a few tree fish, etc...

Saw the biggest damn breezer of Yellowtail off of TP state beach. Man this thing was fuckin HUGE......threw iron, flylined bait, no takers, flouro/no flouro. Was like a Marlin Perkins Mutual of Omaha moment watching those yellows destroy the bait they were on.

They were eating 2 eyes and a wiggle, maybe micro chovies or grunion fry. Ive been surfishing a lot before and after work @ TP. Its hard to switch them off of that easy meal. Surf fishing was good, my son got this one on Friday afternoon.
