| Squid charter O'side 2-4-10
Did a squid charter last night for 6 guys and pretty much got the job done. We left the dock at 5, were out to the grounds about 5:20, but didn't have anything on board until 7-7:30. We started fishing in 1,100 ft of water and the squid were biting about 3/4 down the water column. We got 2 and then it kind of died, went back uphill to get on the drift again and it was stupid! We ended the night with 32 squid for the group and it was plenty. My camera decided not to work last night, so here is one from one of the customers. Enjoy.

How do you clean them so they don't smell like ammonia? The ones I caught tasted like shit.
Plus I see 7 guys unless the camera was on a tripod???

Would be cool to put a giant circle hook in one of those guys and some steel leader on a 130W and drop it down to the depths at first light on a bank or structure...
Mr Mako?

Mr Mako? | Fishzilla feeds all night long, even 1500ft. down. I have hooked some tanker sharks at night, the kind that just hurt you to pull on; good stuff!

Looks like it was a good time... There are some good videos on youtube on how to fillet them out. i went back over the steaks that I had and cut whatever was left of any kind of membrane on the outside of the meat. then I soaked it in milk for 2 days, sliced into small strips, rolled it up, and fried it. was some of the best calamari i've ever had.
