needless to say we all need to be safe out on the water especially in mexico, it is indeed a privilage to fish there, and it usually takes just one or two idiots to ruin it for everyone else. |
I heard it was a private boater, at least thats the take i got reading the threads in the past. Regardless....whoever was driving should have
a) known enough to know there are pens there
b) been referring to gps/chartplotter and been aware of a)
c) been using an up to date chart
d) running as fast as they were, to jump into a pen, been watching the radar.
But then again, running at 20+ knots at night does not make for a prudent safe skipper ,radar or not, in my book because you just wont see stuff on the surface or just under. Think logs, containers, etc.
Some of those pens have reflectors and some have lights but if you do not know the area slow the fuck down. It just amazes me the # of people leaving at oh dark 30 who fly out of the bay just to catch some god damn fish endangering themselves and passengers. Its just fishing.....your not delivering transplant organs.
The less we do to piss of the people of Mexico, and the government, the better off we are. Our government is just as bought and paid off as teh one S of the border. Be grateful we can still fish there.
As it is in 2010 it looks as though I wont need/want a Cal license anyway. I probably only fish Cal waters 2x a year or so. It their country....I can go along with the rules they make.
