After last Saturdays nice WSB fishing we had, i only made it to work one day and called my buddy Darren to see if he wanted to take the day off and go get some more Seabass in which it only took him about 10 seconds to answer, so off we go Monday afternoon trying to get there in time for the evening bite at Catalina. We got off work at 5:00PM and was at the island just before dark. We dropped some lines in the water to soak and then deep fried some burritos for our full course meal. I hooked a Bat Ray that had me going for a second...

, Once that was over we cruised the backside of the island in hopes of locating some meter marks to anchor up on and finally made it to an area around China Point. All was dark as there was no moon at all so we finally dropped anchor and out go the lines again. Not sure what time it was but i managed to hit the hay for awhile. I must of been really tired because next thing i wake up and its daylight and Darren is hollaring "your line went off so i got it" and i yelled "reel it in" still half asleep i go back there and grab the gaff and pull on a nice 25 Pound Plus WSB and that was a nice start throwing the skunk out fast. We sat there a little longer with no bites and then i looked around and we were not quite anchored the way i wanted to be so we pulled the anchor and made a short move towards the 4 boat fleet that was back there. Dropped the anchor and lines out again. I guess it was about 10 minutes and the boat near us got hooked up and they were jumping for joy and we were drooling when about that time my rod goes bendo and i quickly grabbed it from the holder, reared back and pulled in a good 30 plus WSB (pics of both fish are below but i didn't get my buddy Darren in the pic because we switched cameras with his, so hopefully he will post his pics. In any event he also got a nice Halibut and i also got a log Barracuda and a few Calico's and was it worth it? Hell yes... We had a great time and it beats work... Fish are there that is for sure.
