I was listening too... Freaken cool! It is going to get crazy come summer though unless they get it so that you can select a channel to sit on instead of scanning...

You guys, I watched this thread for a couple of days to see if you got straightened out, but these are just drills. They are teaching young Coasties and US Navy Sailors how to deal with inbound ships. They toss them all sorts of scenarios, they're fun to listen to, but they are all just drills.

didnt sound like a drill to me... in drill do they give out names of vessels and names of owners and call signes of these vessels... as well as mouthy captains... i love it when he said FU i am going to leave my men in the engine room and below deck .. and then he sent the boarding crew over..

Absolutely a drill. Last year I listened to one where a Saudi ship said he had race horses on board that needed water and he was not stopping for inspection. They were yelling, cussing , exchanging call signs, ports, vessel names, crew headcounts, and all types of info. At first we thought it was real and that something big was going down in SD Bay, but later found out it was a drill.

I heard another where a merchant ship would not identify his cargo and stated he had no time for inspection. He was very hostile and would not comply to any orders demanded. The "saga" went on and on until I just quit listening.

They are all drills but quite entertaining.
