undersized bug

Can anyone tell me what the current fine is for an undersized lobster....my fishing partner went out with his father in law and another buddy on opening day. Anyways the F&G check their catch....and use their measuring gauge and find one their bugs short. My friend hands the F&G his gauge and shows him that the bug is legal per his gauge that was purchased at a local shop. F&G still cites my friend's father in law because he was the sacrificial goat. I told my partner he should fight it at court. But does anyone know what the fine is??? I told him about 300-400 dollars, but I am just guessing

If this was in SD county the 2008 bail schedule is here: http://www.sdcourt.ca.gov/pls/portal...LE%20FINAL.PDF if you read it, it says $250.00 plus the PA which is $28.00 per $10.00 which adds $700.00 then $50 per lobster so count on about $1,000.00 if I read it right. In addition it is more than likely a misdemeanor which means manditory court apperance....

If you havent already figured it out.......File 1/8" off your gauge.

Check for hitch hikers in your boat. Those little guys slip out of the net and hide where only the DFG can find them.

$1000 bucks would buy a lot of lobster.

Last year it was $250 for the 1st short or overlimt & $750 for every additional short or overlimit....... they cut you some slack if it was only 1 "accidental measurement or mis-count" and hammered you if it appeared that you were poaching.

I would NOT file that gauge. You will need it in court! Google Promar lobster gauge and look for info on the problem they had last year with incorrectly sized gauges. I would also contact Promar and see if they will get you a notarized letter saying they had this problem and take it to court. Hopefully it is a Promar gauge and if you document the problem with them the judge may have mercy on you.
