I went with my brother and father in law on the Sea Horse from Dana Wharf on the 3/4 day run today, very tough day of fishing but fun none the less. I will start with the good news: it was a beautiful day with flat calm weather.
Now for the other news: We had 49 anglers on the boat!!!!!

It was the half price tuesday special, so I guess I could have seen that coming. Very crowded for a boat that size, I didn't even try to elbow in near the stern.
We stayed very shallow near high spots and kelp all day. I threw 5" green fish trap swimbaits on 1 oz leadheads and also dropped some squid strips, but my only hits were on the swimbaits. In the end all I had to show for my efforts was a short halibut, with a very quick cpr. I got kelped twice by the sandies, and that was it for the whole day. It was fun to use my new bass rig though, I had just picked up the Citica 200dsx on a 8' Graftech rod and that was very fun to cast about a million times with few hits.
I was not the only one with issues, the whole boat was struggling. With that huge crowd, the jackpot fish at the end of the day was a 12" sand bass.

That was the 49 person jackpot winner.... highest value sandie I have ever heard of.
The water was 57ish, green and gross. Its still winter as far as the fish are concerned. Here is a pic of my bro with his catch of the day (not the jackpot but close).
