8/3 easy tail limits and a dodo

Fished in my boat El Toro today with my friend Mike for 5 yellows at the lee of south island by 8:00. Size from 10-12lbs and one about 17lbs. It started to slow for us so offshore it was. We headed for the 302 but never made it,we stopped short on a huge kelp to finish off easy limits of tails then relesed a couple. Lots of free swimers, also a school of dorado that would not bite.We jumped in with the speargun and mike gets a nice DoDo then my turn I shoot a 14lb. yellow.Call it a day early back at the point before 1:00.

Hey did anybody hear about the boat that slid off the trailer on the launch ramp. A insane new Parker I belive around 25' the one with a pilot house. What a heartbreak I saw it all happen with my own eyes.I was in shock when I saw the boat just laying there on the ramp a good 10' before the water line. Happened around 4:30

Will post pictures tommorow another epic day on the water

I am going to sling one of those bastards before they take off! I hope. Do the Do-Do scatter when you hit the water and can you get close enough to hit'm
with a hawaiin sling?

You would be amazed how close they come but I would still not use a sling. I use a big riffe Speargun with a floatline. Without the propper gear it would be hard.

How did the boat slide off the trailer? Did they undo the bow strap before it was in the water or did it break? THAT WOULD SUCK!!! Well, thanks for the report, glad to hear you got into them.

Maybe the guy was used to bunks & his new trailer had rollers. OOPS!

Worst case (& I had nightmares of doing this with my buddy's boat) maybe his ho was backing down so the Skipper could drive it off & hit the brakes a leeeetle too soon & a leeeetle too hard.

Spearman- Nice work on the shot to the Yellowtail and your buddy with a Dodo. My buddy Steve and I have been wanting to spear some Dodos for quite some time.

Jesse- You dont stand a chance trying to spear a Dodo with a sling. You MUST get a gun if you are thinking of taking any fish down bigger than a calico. (Maybe Halibut because you can pin em to the floor) Even with the gun you will be in for a fight.

Thanks for the report

Taylor~

Nice going on the fish.

You say you saw it happen (the parker sliding off). Can you please explain how this happened and what you saw, as I am very curious. I have always unhooked my boat without a prob before launching except for may on a minus tide and very steep ramp. I saw the picture and it did not look as if the ramp was very steep. Cant see how this could have happened as that is a heavy boat and it would take ALOT to make that thing get momentum to completely slide off. The guy had to be doing the old bump and slide deal, and misjudged the waterline, but even that is hard to belive. What a bummer, I feel for the guy.

The unknown fisherman :p

yeah I saw it all go down I was stunned to say the least (very loud when it hit the ground),as for the exact details I did not talk to the guy.I have seen alot of strange things happen at launch ramps before but this morning took the cake. As if the whole boat thing was not enough there was a terrible, terrible car crash in P.B. this morning I my way to go fishing.Back to the fishing, that good kelp I was on was only 20.3 miles from the point. And blue water 69.7

Go get em Taylor (El Toro)

Your boat? Try OUR boat, and only by a hair or your side you little shit. You're a punk for getting out mid week and whacking them without me. I am insanely jealous. Nice job. :FU:
