| fun with kids and grandpa in the Bay
Took the 3 kids, son 9, daughters 7 and almost 5, along with 82 yrs young Grandpa out in SD Bay for some bass on Sat. Parking was non-existent at SI. Man, when is the City going to do an extreme makeover on that place?? Had to separate trailer and truck to get 'em to fit in the lot.
Got to EB for 1/2 scoop of chovies. I'm waiting behind another boat to the east while he gets baited. The guy ends up turning his boat around, I guess because he realized his tank was on that side. He starts to leave and some overweight dude and his woman try to snake in ahead of me by zooming in from the west. I tell the guy he needs to wait his turn and to move his boat and he gets pissed and starts swearing at the top of his lungs, but he did end up moving. Wonder what makes people behave like that. Maybe ENZYTE would help him. :ASS:
With no less ado, we zoom down to the Coronado bridge and proceed to catch calicos, a needlefish and a brown smoothhound shark. My son has been into sharks recently (was sharkweek on Discovery Channel) and was so stoked to pull that critter in. Gave him quite a battle on 4lb test and a trout rod. Coast Guard patrol said we were too close to the bridge pilings so we headed to the shoal area near the Bali Hai restaurant. Picked up a small (18" white sea bass -- was interesting to see that guy so far in the bay. Also had a healthy pick of more sandies and calicos. Grandpa had a great day with the grandkids. He and I have been fishing the Bay since the 70s, so this was a nice way to relive the fishing fun over the years. Kids had a blast and are ready to go again.
