2/10 Buggin' & Bassin'

Met up with my wingman Sherm at SI at 12:15 am. Got our gear set up and launched the yaks at about 0130. The water was like a lake and there was an outgoing tide so it was easy going on the way out.

Stopped at one spot and did a little "ninja" hooping. I pulled up a huge spider crab that looked like some kind of alien, it was even glowing !

Continued on out to hit some of our favorite spots. It took a couple pulls to finally get my first legal of the night. About 0330 a big knothead showed up to try and harass us. We both unloaded on him repeatedly with our wrist rockets and he decided to get out of there pretty quick.

My last pull of the night had 7 bugs (3 of which were keepers) and 4 crabs. We must have tossed back between 25 and 30 shorts. Final for me was 5 keepers and a nice sized rock crab.

At dawn we paddled down to a eel grass area we know of and caught a few spotties. Crossed the bay and long-lined it for a sandie. Watched Sherm reel in several toad sand bass and a calico. Caught a couple more bass and called it a day?/night? at about 0830. All feesh were caught using misc. Gulp! & plastics.

Nice night on the water, good company, flat conditions, only a slight breeze, and not too freakin cold.

All bass C&Red. All bugs bbq'ed and eaten already, burp .

Peace ,

Spyder

Excellent job. Nice picture too. Looks like those critters are lined up in the spread offense. Wonder if Bill Billichick was secretly taping them.

Hey bro......good fishing and buggin with you once again. The buggin wasn't that great for me with only one legal and a shit load of real close ones. Better safe than sorry though and back they went. The bassin for me was much better though and I caught several toad turdrollers the two biggest measuring out at 19 & 20 inches. The last one that came unbuttoned yak side was probably a 5 pounder for sure. I could see that he was barely hooked and as soon as I reached for his lip....POP....out it came. Oh well....he was going back anyway.

Great night on the water once again with the number one wingman and a good cigar.

The night's count:

1 keepr bug (Jim kicked one of his to me so the wife and I could have some for the night

8 Spotties
9 Sand bass (all big fish)
2 Calicos

A few pics from the other night/morning. Jim.....we gotta get someone else to stand by the bugs next time for pics. Those bugs look small next to you.
