Pam, thanks for the great article, very interesting.
I have a question for you. What do they say the main reason for WSB stocks declining as drastically as they did? I have heard numerous different stories, one was the growth of input by the Tijuana river killed the squid grounds that was their favorite food so they moved on. Thanks in advance.

Great post, I will start turning in the heads. I can only hope to get as many this year as last. Sorry if I missed this, Do you get feedback of hatch location and fish age if you turn in a fish with a tag?? that would be interesting.

I had a soft copy with the recovery information from 2007, but when I tried to post it, it was really just a mess and very hard to read. It was in the form of a spreadsheet and all the cells ended up getting listed in a single veriticle list.
Population decline was blamed largely on fishing, both commercial and recreational. Other miscellaneous issues impacted the stocks as well...
This link should give you a list of the drop off sites, if you don't know where to take the heads. http://sdoceans.org/pdfs/WSB%20head_drop.pdf
And some additional information on the program: http://sdoceans.org/white_program.html |

yes
as stated in the original article
"the facility is funded primarily by funds collected as part of the Ocean Resources Enhancement stamp you buy as part of your annual fishing license. No other Federal or State tax revenues are used to fund this program."

This is a great thread. I've always wondered where this was being done. I'm so pleased to see what's going on there. Thank you for posting this up.
