Catalina bug report 2-1 / 2-2

Decided to push my luck a little bit with the weather and it paid off. Launched about 10:00 am fri at HH and headed to the island on a 2 day permit with my cousin who has never hooped before. The ride over was a little sloppy we arrived to our spot to find it empty as I expected it would be with the weather coming up. The main plan for me was to get some fishing in but it wasnt to be, as there were some BIG rollers running along the island and made it too hard to fish.

We decided to tuck into a cove for protection and wait till dark. Around 5:30pm or so we rolled around the corner to find another boat had strung out his nets every 100 yards or so in MY spot . We talked to him for a bit and he moved some out so we could fish our spot. Started out a little slow but quickly picked up and we had our 1 days limits pretty quickly, pulled the gear out and waited till midnight while we had some lobster tacos and some needed rest then reset the gear with fresh bait. 2 more sets and we were off to two harbors for a good nights sleep on the can, woke up had breakfast and a nice walk on the island and off we went. Total for the trip 26 legals + ( 2 for tacos) about the same of shorts a few spider crabs ect. Pics are in my cousins camera but you all know what lobster looks like. Was greeted by DFG at the ramp ,went trough everything and we were good to go. FYI, when we pulled up to the ramp there were lobster carcases everywhere. He said they are going to start writing tickets for it ,I guess its illegal to tail them at the ramp I dont but apparently quite a few people do.

You couldn't have been at "my spot" as we were out Sat as well and didn't see you.
You are right... Big swells. All three of us got sea-sick. I took a Bonine which finally kicked in for the ride home.
Good job on the bugs.
Dave

It could of been your spot, I fished fri night early sat morning. I cant believe how many people I find on MY spot . It was shitty fri afternoon my cousin had a nice chum line going as well
It was kind of deserving after the shit I took from him in mex 6 years ago.
My only regret I have is having no pics of it to post. I dont know if you know about scopace but its the bomb.
