We left Dana Point at 2pm Saturday, arrived at the spot by 3pm (so much for the swell), proceeded to catch bait. Set nets at 5pm, first pull 10lb spider crab, then next net - one z's, then next net - two z's, then 9th pull had 5 legals and 1 short. Suckas stopped crawling for us @ 10:30. Tide made the difference, and make your sets deep (> 80ft). 11 Critters ranged from 1.5lb to 4 lbs. Lots of shorts.
