1/11/08 Cat Buggin - Late Report

Went buggin Fri night. Left out of Huntington Harbor on the Smokin Guns with Mark, John and Jason (from TBC). Launched at 4:00pm and got to the front side of Cat at 5:10. Put hoops in 30-40 ft - 70 ft with minimal success. Talked to a local and he suggested 80-130ft. Changed the nets for deeper water and ended up with 15 legals and 10 or so shorts. The biggest one coming in just under 7lbs. Lots of fun but lots of work. Weather was great. Mark and John made the morning crossing while Jason and I slept. Sorry Mark. Props go out to Mark and the Smokin Guns. Sick boat.

No pics of lobster but some of dinner tonight. Surf and turf with tri-tip, corn on the cob, rice and original coors.

Matt

Little lite on the "turf" - great job on the catch. As far as the beer...ask Scribby if he approves.

Nice job and the dinner looks great.

And yes, I do drink Coors Original but, who really gives a fuck what kind of beer he had with his dinner. Is there a beer police out there that says what you can and can't drink. I thought this was a fishing reports board, not a who drinks what kind of alcohol board.

I invited a neighbor over who brought the Coors and the Tri-tip. As this was my first attempt at grilling freshly caught lobster, I wanted the lobster to be the main course. The tri-tip was more of an afterthought in case the lobster didn't work out. Fortunately, the lobster was fuckin awesome. About 10 minutes on the grill with butter and spices. The meal couldn't have been any better.

I am having another tonight that I will flash pan fry in olive oil, and then cook in a bit of butter.
