With the Saltwater Bass Showdown coming up we had to hit the kelp to try and figure the calico bite out. Beautiful day on the water, not a breathe of wind until noon. The lack of wind did make it tough to drift through the kelp. After a morning of tough fishing with a couple 2 pound fish released we finally got the right bite. It ended up being my personal best. No scale on the boat but I would say it was atleast 5.5 if not 6 pounds. I got it on Reebs' new Kelp Assassin Jig and of course the first cast after applying a healthy portion of Uni-butter. Picture was not the greatest shot but it was a beauty. Just hope I can find that on Saturday.
Good Luck to everyone fishing this weekend! Its going to be a tough tournament filled with a lot of talent
