Well, last week my 2.5 day trip got canceled due to weather and bad bait. Headed back to SM a little bummed out.
When I got back I talked to Vince and Martin to see what they were up to and if they were fishing. Sure enough Martin was heading out on Thursday and Vinnie on Saturday. I'm very lucky to have good friends.
Martin and I headed out Thursday morning to beautiful conditions. Plan was to target halibut first and then bass before the wind picked up. Picked up some nice dines and began our first drift soon after that. Tried a new spot later on and I picked up a 23 1/2" flatty. Hoping for more but that was it.
Started fishing plastics for bass but it was slow. Tried the iron at a different spot and Martin picked up a pencil not much bigger than the iron. Back to the bass where we scratched a few. Slow fishing but alot of fun with Ol' Mr. Xactly.
Conditions:
Me with halibut.
Marty with pencil on the

Headed out Saturday morning with my good friend Vinnie. He's heading down to baja in a few weeks so he wanted to take out his 15ft skiff aka The Red Drum and see how the motor was running.
Condition were nice again. Targeted halibut again but nothing biting. Started fishing bass but it was still slow. Vinnie started targeting sheepheads and other critters and sure enough he caught some nice ones. I decided to stick with the plastic but like I said, slow. Should have followed Vinnie on critter fishing.
As the wind picked up we both fished plastics until the wind picked up and it was time to head in.
One of the few bass we caught, calicock on the VS leadhead and BH swimmy.
One of the nice sheeps Vince caught.
China croaker aka black croaker.
Vinnie with another eater. Deep hook set = food.
Me with sandoval and the one sheep that didn't get away.
Once again, thanks to Martin and Vince. Even though the fishing was slow, we had a great time. As always.
