About 3 or 4 months ago an old friend of mine Nathan asked if I wanted to go out on the Sea Angler with his fellow co-workers. Not really into party boats myself but since they were chartering it I thought what the heck.
First thing I would like to say is the captain and crew were great. Especially since 95% of the people on the boat had no real ocean fishing experience. They were patient with everyone. I helped out too which was fun. Tying knots, etc. The funniest thing was some of the passengers thought I was a crew member because I was wearing my fishin' boots.

I guess that's all you need to work on a boat.

The boat stayed local which meant getting a limit of sculpin first. Everyone else fished a double dropper loop while I fished a 2oz VS jig head and swimbait tipped with squid. Probably caught 15+ sculpin myself. Spent the rest of the time helping people un-hook their fish and then clipping the spines.
Once we got limits we headed over to the Horseshoe. Not an area I fish but the first thing I noticed is alot of other people do. Between the sporties and PB there was probably 40-50 boats. Maybe more.
The Capt. Greg moved us in and the barracuda started boiling all around us. Pretty good fishing actually. I started throwing a swimmy for a couple of hits. Fished bait too. Broke off a few times and then landed a nice cuda. Went back to the swimbait and got a few more. Didn't bring any irons so I thought a crankbait would be fun and it was. The Mega Bait was deadly. Leave it on the surface, jerk and twitch it a few times and watch the fish boil on it. Always fun to see.
Overall a fun trip with a great crew.
