Nice..... great to catch fish when your doing a mechanical test!

Hope you did good today. How did you rig your baits? Fly line, or did you weight them down with a torpedo weight and a swivel?

Re: yellow here tail there

I use a 3/0 hook thru the top lip (center) from the inside / out.
there are several other things that will cause your bait to spin,
bent hook, trolling to fast or the type of knot used on hook.
last option 6 ft leader to swivel. I put 3 in the boat today 10 to 15 lbs
didnt get on the water till 3:30 this afternoon. one of the fish hit a clear/
salt and pepper 5 inch fish trap on a troll, ya never know

Re: yellow here tail there

about the macs, there at the end of the jettys @ mission bay (so mission beach side ) and the end of the break water jetty @point loma.
after 8am you are going to find them in deeper water, meter them and use cut mac, make a rig with 3 or 4 #6 hooks (saves time). if i tell you any thing else your going to have to bring me along my tub beats the crap out of me.
good luck....

I like the candy bar size for halibut and the foot longs for tails.

Re: yellow here tail there

Thanks for all the info Ken! Seeing as I am not from the area, little tips like that can save hours of looking for bait. I was planning to come down today and fish, but I got a last minute booking through the end of the week. I'm hoping to tow down for a couple of days next week, hope the bite stays hot!
