I went to the Coronados this morning with 3 friends, we left at 3:30. It was pretty rough for the first hour but calmed down. We got there at 5:45 - we really did not know where to start, this was all of our first time at the Coronados and this was all of our first season fishing for Yellowtail (thanks for the tips in the fishing tutorial forum). We were told by just about everyone on friday that we should just find all the boats and fish around them - there were no boats, so we just trolled south on the east side of the islands - 1 rapala deep dive, 1 medium dive, 1 yo yo, 1 feather. After the hour of trolling and searching for this "fleet" we thought we should try the rockpile, until we realized none of us had any idea where it was, so we stayed there - we trolled in between the north island and the all the other and hooked this yellowtail on the deep diver- this is my buddy "tunaman55??" our guess is 25lbs - not really sure though - this is the first yellow tail for us. We didn't see any bait, nothing on top, and maybe 10 other boats - and this was the only strike for us - but still turned out great |

Thanks for the report, just a word of advice about the east side of the islands. The Tuna penners use that side in the lee of the island to anchor the pens and there is all kinds of loose rope and hidden anchors in the water over there be careful.

Thanks again - next time we'll try the west siiidee
