Perch Fishing 3/27

[Red Drum]

Fished the Zuma Beach area and life guard shack #4 north of Santa Monica Pier with Joe, Mitch, Steve and Dave. The five of us managed to catch almost 60 Barred Surf Perch with the biggest at 11 inches. Surf was big and the tide was low. Very rough and murky conditions but we did get some biters eventhough they weren't the big slabs that we were after. All fish caught on motor oil 1.75 inch Perch grubs except one Perch that Joe caught on a Yo-Zuri 4 inch Rainbow Trout hard body crank bait. We had a fun time and were back at the house by 11am. fish?: Here's a few that we kept for the frying pan.

I always loved surf fishing for the Perch, so much fun and a great relaxing time.

Did they have a good bite this last spawn in Feb???

We used to fish the beaches from county line up to the power plant. A few good hidden spots down the rocks from the highway where little sand areas were between the rocks.

Nice job on those perch Vince. I was out today up in Ventura County and the waves were just pounding. I was able to keep the grub in the strike zone for more than a few seconds. Needless to say I took the skunk there.

Glad to hear you guys got out to pull on some fish.
