| March 24, Talcott Shoal-Santa Rosa Island
No pics taken, but fished Talcott Shoal area in 45-100 feet of water for WFO rockfish. Reds, chuckles, johnnies, blue rf, large whitefish, sheepshead, and 4 sizable Calico Bass. Lings were released. Fished them for 4 hours with 3 guys on the boat using chovies, dines, squid, plastics, it really did not matter as the result was the same. Took enough for dinner, and left them biting. Quality was decent. We spent most of the day in tight on the kelp trying for the Calicos, but had a hard time getting to them through all the rockfish, and I think the Calicos were a bit off due to the chilly 55-56 degree water. There were huge clouds of rockfish on the sonar in 100 feet of water, from 60-100 feet down, due North of Talcott, and they were more than willing to eat whatever. There were 2 party boats that stopped on these schools to top off thier passengers before heading home. Nothing like fishing for quality rockfish in the shallow water.
