2/17/2007 Late Report

Took the Pops out of Helgren's in O'side on the Sea Trek. The boat departed @ 0700 sharp picked up some dines and headed out. We stated fishing off Cardiff. On the second cast, wham!!! Just a 14" turd roller. I thought, " This is gonna be actually a decent day!" Then it hit, no love for 2 hrs. It was torture I tell you. Guys were getting some nice sculpin an occasional bass or two, Pops was catching brown rockfish, some sugar bass, and short calicos. Then out of the blue and a move to the port side of the boat, 3 casts=3 goats. Not the biggest, 3-5 lbs, but decent quality. I promptly released these fish for they are delicate and I wanted to preserve them for future slaughter. I was pissed!!! Way to go DFG!!! Why don't you just close it off for 6 months. Anyways, a good day on the water for catching. Dad got JP with 2.5 lb. sandie. Sorry no pics.
Total for the day:

4 sand bass
5 sculpin
7 goats ( released )
bunch of near-shore rockfish.
