Redondo double limits of bugs and a 8lber

Trying to get in the last few days of lobster season I gave Chris a call to go diving and we are joined by Yutaka,Chris's neice and my girfriend.

I am telling Yutaka and Chris that I guess I will be getting my trophy bug this season and Chris said that the big one could be waiting for me down below.

Once again I went to one of my deep spots and dropped down at around 6pm. When I reached the bottom I could see some nice Vermillion rockcods,a few lings and a huge Cabazon.

The dive started out great and I have my first 2 in the bag, next I see some big antennas sticking out of a hole and I swing and grab the base of one antenna and then very quickly get my other hand on the base of the other antenna and I start to shake it from side to side and up and down but it doesn't budge. I look at the hole and I am thing that it must have got in there from another way but I am not giving up so I keep shaking and after about 3 min. I start to make a litle head way and I keep pulling and shaking and finally get him out.

I quickly put him in the bag and moved on.The bugs were all kinda far in the holes and I had to reach way back to get a hold of them but when I was done I had a bag full of nice lobsters.

The bug on the left of the picture was a little over legal size so you can tell how much bigger the 8lber was.

Yutaka decided not to dive this trip and was just along for the ride so Chris gears up and I drop him off at the breakwall. While Chris was divingi see a couple of kayakers hoopnetting further down the wall so I go see who it is and it was Malibu Frank and Exterminator(Jeffery). We chatted for a while and then we see our diver(Chris) was back up in about 25min so we go pick him up and he had a nice full bag of bugs(limits) High five go out and we head back in the harbor after another successful lobster dive.

I am sure going to miss it when the season is over in 3 days

Nice lobster! It's a pig! I'm going to miss your dive reports in 3 days.

I would love to see a video of what you are doing down there. Mount a camera on your head. Would be awsome.

The reason Yutaka didn’t dive that night was because I was out with Roger just the night before. That was a good night too. We ended up two short of double limits Saturday night, but had this nice kicker in the bunch.

That one weighted 5.6# on the digital, and ended up in Drew’s possession. Too bad I couldn’t make it up to Chaba tonight to help him eat it. Hope it was good Drew, as bug season closes in 2 nights, and you won’t be getting any more fresh ones for a while.

BTW, it was nice staying dry for a change, drinking Mai-Tai’s and helping run the boat.

Are we gonna try and get out closing night, or are you chasing tails at SCI, Roger?
