| Marine fuel refund $$$$
I did some research and found out that you can get a refund of .18c for each gallon of fuel purchased for marine use. Since it is not being used on the roads the tax must be refunded. I believe it has to be purchaed in the marina to qualify though. All you have to do is fill out the forms, send them in and they send a check. Here is the link if you are interested.
Anyone ever done this? I will let you know when I get my refund if anything else needs to be done.
Further note: Anything after 3 nm can be refunded.

| If I interpret the gov'ts attempt at the English language correctly, tax is paid on UNDYED DIESEL, the kind sold on land. Marina diesel is red or dyed. Dyed diesel means no tax was paid and is trouble if found in the tank of your truck.
I obtained the form along with the explanations at www.boe.ca.gov/pdf/boe770du.pdf
In the past, perhaps only 10% of the fuel I purchased was non-dyed, and it wasn't worth filling out the forms. I've noticed in recent years the price of marina fuel has been about 50 cents more than land, and at times almost $1. I look silly carrying 6-gallon jugs down to my boat, but if you add the rebate at $4 a jug savings it is easy money. I still have to bite the bullet every now and then with the marina fuel, but I feel like a total chump by supporting a high-cost producer.

Yep, I've been trying to figure out how to get a reasonable amount of fuel, say 30-50 gal, into the truck then from the truck down to the boat. Red-dyed out in lakeside is pretty consistently $1 cheaper than marina fuel. Since the fuel tank on the boat holds 300 gal it would definately be worth it. Any ideas on how to lower a 50gal jug from the truck and get it down to the boat then onto the boat.

I know that will save us a lot of money, since we always burn around 100 gallons of fuels. Hey 18 bucks is more money for beer, at least another 30 pack.

i guess they want you to go through the hoops because everyone would siphon gas from boat to vehicle to save $$ -you guys covered that...no more research needed
